Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

All of our rugs are cleaned by hand. We begin with a thorough dusting and vacuuming, then gently wash the rug in lukewarm water using a shampoo formulated for its specific fibers — wool, silk, viscose, or poly-blend. Both the front and back are carefully scrubbed to lift dirt and soil, followed by multiple rinses until fully clean. Finally, we extract the water and fan-dry the rug flat on the ground. We do not hang-dry rugs to prevent running dyes/colors and drooping.

Spots and stains should always be addressed immediately. In addition, area rugs are recommended to be professionally cleaned at least once a year, depending on foot traffic and the frequency of spills or accidents.

Steaming should never be used on area rugs. Not only does it fail to remove dirt and soil effectively, it can also damage wool fibers and pile by hardening the dirt at the rug’s foundation, leading to long-term damage.

Improper vacuuming can damage your rugs. Always adjust the vacuum height to avoid breaking the face yarn or distorting the pile, and never use beaters or brushes on fringes to prevent unnecessary wear.

A high-quality rug pad keeps your rug flat, prevents slipping, and provides extra comfort underfoot. Beyond cushioning, it protects the rug’s foundation by trapping dirt, reducing wear, and extending its life. For rugs in heavy traffic areas or those that slide easily on hard floors, a rug pad is highly recommended.

Rugs are crafted from a variety of materials including wool, silk, cotton, jute, and synthetic fibers.
